Funding for R&D projects is open to academic as well as Industrial establishments interested in carrying out fusion science & technology related projects.

These are a few guidelines to help you submit a research proposal to the BRFST. For any additional information, kindly contact the BRFST contact persons.

Identify an area of research (the NFP document or the idea seed document could be used as a starting point).

For academic institutions and/or industrial institutions, it is mandatory to have a coordinator from IPR.

Submit the project proposal to NFP in the prescribed format along with the other essential documents (here).

Project is evaluated by a working group committee from IPR and/or external referee(s).

If the referees recommends the project, the PI is invited to give a presentation to the BRFST board mainly on matters regarding project content, implementation and budgeting. The PI may also be asked to clarify questions raised by the internal working committee regarding the project (if any).

Based on the report of the BRFST board, the project is ready for funding in its current state or after modifications suggested by the external committee.

The PI is informed about the acceptance/modification of the project and the PI is asked to submit the signed and endorsed undertaking forms (1) and (2).

Funds for the first year are released (usually within a month of the review). The date of receipt of the cheque/draft is taken as the starting date of the project.

Submission of periodic progress reports by the PI, presentation of work carried out during review meetings (yearly).

Funding for next year released based on review committee's report.
